A Look At Art On Bristol’s Streets

Luke Jerram 'Negotiating Space' installation at RWA, Bristol, UK

One of the joys of living in Bristol is the amount of art that pops up in Bristol’s streets and parks. This can take the form of sculptures from the artist known as ‘Getting Up To Stuff’, the striking artworks of Duncan McKellar utilising recycled scaffolding foam, wood sculptures by Andy O’Neill and many others.

The latest addition is a joyous installation by internationally renowned artist Luke Jerram. Called ‘Negotiating Space’ it is to be seen at the Royal West of England Academy from 10 June 2025.

The work takes the form of 1000m of 20cm wide ribbon wrapping around the building. It forms part of the Grade 11* Listed gallery’s ‘Summer of Textiles’ season.

It’s a great reason to visit the Academy, enjoy a coffee break at the adjacent Spicer+Cole, or just pause and wonder as you pass by.
