August sunlight streams through a ruined window at Nunney Castle, Somerset. Built in 1370 by Sir John de la Mare, the castle is thought to be influenced by French style. It was updated in the late 16th Century but heavily damaged in the English Civil War. The ruin is today maintained as a tourist attraction by English Heritage.
