Sleeping Soldier

Sleeping Soldier projection in Bristol on Armistice Day Anniversary, 2018

The brightness of a street light provides a powerful counterpoint to the darkness of war, portrayed through a projected image of a sleeping soldier on the wall of Bristol Cathedral Abbey Gatehouse. This image was captured at around 6 a.m. on the morning of 11 November 2018, the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.
The Sleeping Soldier installation was created by illustrator and animator Leo Jamelli to create awareness of the sacrifices made by servicemen and women during WW1 and is part of the Sleeping Soldier art installation, funded by the Arts Council.
